Mowing
Warm-season lawns should be mowed this month to remove as much dead top-growth as possible. Mow after the danger of hard freezes has passed, but before the lawn begins to green. This is usually in mid-March when the Bradford Pear trees are in full-bloom. Do not mow below about .5 inches or you may damage roots, stolons, and rhizomes growing near the soil surface. Rake and remove all of the mowed debris so it will not accumulate as thatch.
Overseeded lawns should be mowed, as well, to slow the growth of the overseeded grass and prevent it from competing with the emerging warm-season grass.
